Xylitylglucoside
Sugar moisturizer from birch — xylitylglucoside (Aquaxyl) combined with xylitol and glucose stimulates the synthesis of NMF components and dermal polysaccharides. Unique mechanism: not just attracts water, but activates the skin's own production of moisturizing factors.
What is it?
Xylitylglucoside (INCI) — O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-xylitol, synthetic glucoside. Trademark Aquaxyl® (Seppic) — a mixture of xylitylglucoside, anhydroxylitol, and xylitol. Mechanism: stimulates moisture transporters (aquaporins AQP3) in keratinocytes, activates the synthesis of NMF components (amino acids, PCA, lactic acid) and dermal polysaccharides (hyaluronic acid, dermatan sulfate). Also forms a protective film on the surface.
Moisturizing component in essences, creams, and products for dry skin. Popular in Korean-Japanese cosmetics. Often combined with HA, PGA for maximum hydration.
