Tartaric Acid
Tartaric Acid — the mildest AHA acid from grapes. It exfoliates, brightens the tone, and moisturizes at the same time. Ideal for those who are just getting acquainted with chemical exfoliants or have very sensitive skin.
What is it?
Tartaric Acid — a dicarboxylic AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid) found in grapes, tamarind, and bananas. INCI: Tartaric Acid. MW 150 Da — the largest among AHAs (glycolic 76, lactic 90, malic 134, tartaric 150). Larger MW = slower penetration = less irritation. It is part of NMF. Often used in multi-AHA peels to balance the action.
Toners, peels, and serums for sensitive skin. Effective in complex AHA formulas as a "soft ballast." Suitable for daily use at low concentrations (1–5%).

Main Actions
Tartaric (MW 150) → Mandelic (MW 152) → Malic (MW 134) → Lactic (MW 90) → Glycolic (MW 76). Larger MW = milder action. Tartaric is the safest start for AHA. Glycolic has the strongest effect but the highest risk of irritation.
