Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate
The mildest amino-surfactant for cleansing — derived from coconut oil and glutamic acid. Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate cleanses without disrupting the pH and barrier of the skin, ideal for sensitive and atopic skin.
What is it?
Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate — an amino-surfactant, a concentrate of coconut fatty acids and sodium salt of glutamic acid. Weakly anionic. Cleanses at pH 5-6 — close to the natural pH of the skin (4.5-5.5). COSMOS compatible. In INCI: Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate. Variant: Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate.
The main or sole surfactant in premium cleansing products for sensitive, atopic, and infant skin. Popular in Japanese cosmetics and clean beauty.

Main Actions
Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate → Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate → Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate (the mildest, but expensive). All are premium amino-surfactants, much gentler than SLES. Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate is the gold standard in Japanese dermatological cosmetics (Curel, Kao).
