Polyisobutene
Synthetic film-former and emollient — Polyisobutene provides lipsticks and eyeshadows with a characteristic glossy shine and long-lasting hold. It is also an important component of long-wear products and waterproof cosmetics.
What is it?
Polyisobutene (PIB) and Hydrogenated Polyisobutene (HPIB) — synthetic isobutylene polymers. PIB — liquid, sticky, glossy. HPIB — saturated, more stable, less sticky. Functions: film-former, gloss agent, emollient, thickener in anhydrous systems. In INCI: Polyisobutene / Hydrogenated Polyisobutene.
Key component of lip gloss, liquid lipsticks, and highlighters. Also in waterproof mascaras and eyeshadows. In skincare products — a lightweight emollient without greasiness.
