What is it?

Mica — a natural flaky aluminosilicate mineral. In cosmetics — in the form of thin flakes coated with metal oxides for various effects: silver (TiO₂ coating), gold (Fe₂O₃), blue-green (Fe₃O₄). Effect class: shimmer, pearl, sparkle, glow. In INCI: Mica or CI 77019.

The main pearlescent component of highlighters, bronzers, eyeshadows, powders, and illuminating creams. Present in almost every product with a glowing effect.

Key Benefits

Natural glow and luminous effect
Thin flaky particles reflect and refract light in several directions — a characteristic multidimensional shine that looks natural, not "glittery."
Smooth glide and silky texture
The flaky form of particles is an excellent lubricant. Mica in powders and eyeshadows provides smooth application and blending without color overload.
Inert safe pigment
Chemically inert natural mineral — approved for cosmetic use in all areas, including the eye contour. Does not cause allergic reactions.

Child labor in mica mining

Most mica is mined in India, partially using child labor. Conscious brands use synthetic mica (phlogopite, synthetically grown) or certified Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI) natural mineral. Look for the label "synthetic mica" or "RMI certified."
