Inositol
Vitamin-like molecule of cellular signaling — inositol regulates sebum production, moisturizes, and supports the microbiome. Naturally found in all body cells and present in the plant world.
What is it?
Inositol (myo-inositol) — a cyclic polyol (C₆H₁₂O₆), structurally related to glucose. Previously classified as vitamin B8 (pseudo-vitamin, synthesized by the body). Present in all cells as phosphatidylinositol (PIP, PIP₂, PIP₃) — key secondary messengers in insulin signaling and cell growth. In cosmetics: moisturizer, sebum regulator, microbiome support. Natural sources: fruits (melon, orange), legumes, nuts.
Moisturizing and sebum-regulating formulas. Interesting for oily and combination skin. Combines with niacinamide and zinc PCA for sebum control.

Main Actions
Inositol is being studied in PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) — a condition associated with acne and hyperseborrhea due to hyperinsulinemia. Oral myo-inositol in PCOS significantly reduces acne. Topical inositol — a milder effect, but a useful complementary component in acne products without irritation.
