What is it?

Dicaprylyl Carbonate — an ester of carbonic acid and 2-octanol. Known under the trade name Cetiol CC (BASF). Ultra-light dry-feel texture — lighter than silicones and cyclopentasiloxane. Key advantage: ideal dispersing agent for ZnO and TiO₂ nano-particles in mineral sunscreens. INCI: Dicaprylyl Carbonate.

Standard carrier for mineral UV filters (ZnO, TiO₂) in modern sunscreens. Also in light serums and products for oily skin.

Key Benefits

Ideal carrier for mineral UV filters
Disperses ZnO and TiO₂ nanoparticles more evenly than most oils — minimizes white cast and ensures even distribution of the protective layer.
Ultra-light dry-feel application
One of the lightest known emollients — no greasy residue, completely dry feel after application. Ideal for oily skin that needs sun protection.
Stability and comfort of formulations
