What is it?

Cetearyl Alcohol — a mixture of cetyl (C16) and stearyl (C18) fatty alcohols. Obtained from coconut or palm kernel oil. Functions: emulsifier (stabilizes O/W emulsions), thickener of the aqueous phase, skin and hair conditioner. In INCI: Cetearyl Alcohol.

A basic component of body creams, moisturizing lotions, and hair conditioners. One of the most popular ingredients in any category of creams.

Key Benefits

Fatty alcohol, does not irritate
Despite the word "alcohol" in the name — fatty alcohol (fatty alcohol) from C16-C18 fatty acids. Softens and moisturizes the skin, does not cause dryness unlike some regular alcohols.
Creamy rich texture
Gives creams a creamy, "fluffy" texture and a pleasant feel upon application — forms a soft velvety film on the skin.
Stabilization of O/W emulsions
Effectively stabilizes "oil in water" emulsions, preventing separation and increasing the thermal stability of the product.
