What is it?

Beta-glucan — a natural polysaccharide found in the cell walls of oats (Avena sativa), barley, and several mushrooms (Reishi, Shiitake). In INCI: Beta-Glucan or Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract. The molecule with beta-1,3/1,4-glucosidic bonds — a specific structure that provides exceptional water retention ability and interaction with skin receptors.

A premium moisturizing and soothing active ingredient in serums, creams, and masks for sensitive and dehydrated skin. A key component in post-procedure products (peels, injections) and in formulas for atopic skin.

Key Benefits

Hydration that surpasses hyaluronic acid
Beta-glucan retains water in the stratum corneum more effectively than hyaluronic acid — due to its ability to form a 3D matrix that physically holds water molecules. At equal concentrations, it provides higher hydration over 24 hours.
Deep soothing and anti-redness
Activates beta-glucan receptors on the skin surface (Dectin-1), reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Effective for redness, irritation after peels, and reactivity of atopic skin.
Stimulation of the skin's protective mechanisms
Enhances the activity of Langerhans cells and the natural immunity of the skin — increases resistance to external irritants. One of the few topical components with documented immunomodulating effects.
