Alpha-Arbutin
Alpha-Arbutin — one of the most scientifically validated and safe lightening molecules. More effective than regular arbutin, it inhibits tyrosinase (the enzyme that produces melanin), evenly brightening skin tone without aggressive bleaching.
What is it?
Alpha-Arbutin — a synthetic glycoside of hydroquinone (4-hydroxyphenol-α-D-glucopyranoside). The alpha form is more stable and effective than beta-arbutin (natural arbutin from cranberries). Concentration: 0.5–2% in most products, effective from 0.5%. INCI name: Alpha-Arbutin.
Key component in serums and creams for pigmentation: age spots, post-acne PIH, melasma, uneven skin tone. More effective than regular arbutin due to the alpha configuration, which slows down enzymatic breakdown.

Main Actions
Beta-arbutin (natural) is less effective — it breaks down faster. Alpha-arbutin is more stable and stronger. Kojic acid is effective but less stable in formulas and can be irritating. Alpha-arbutin is the safest choice for long-term pigmentation correction.
